SKC - Facilities
Classrooms, Laboratories, Library, Conference Hall, Hostels and Playground have been designed, following the modern sophisticated methods with rich aesthetic value. It can be termed as a marvel of the new millennium Architecture.A mineral water plant is installed for drinking water. Frequent buses are available from both Virudhunagar and Sivakasi to the College. To bring the students from Virudhunagar, Srivilliputtur, Rajapalayam, Sattur, Vembakottai,Thirumangalam, Alagulam, Aruppukottai and Sivakasi, the college has ten buses with nominal bus fare. This facility is going to be extended to other neighboring towns in future.
For the benefit of the students, a booth with STD / ISD / PCO facilities is available in the campus.
LIBRARY:
The college library is functioning in a spacious serene atmosphere with 19074 books shelved properly according to different disciplines. 63 magazines (14 Tamil and 49 English), 44 Journals and 9 News papers (5 Tamil, 4 English) are being subscribed. 2 international level and 42 national level journals are also being subscribed. Students can use the library from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. Open access system is followed and each student is provided with two library tokens. Every day the students can have any book from the library for reference.
HOSTEL:
Separate hostels for men and women with modern amenities are available in the campus. A parental approach is essential for the students who are away from their home. Such an atmosphere, a home away from home, is being provided. Both Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian foods are available in the mess. Cost of the Boarding and Lodging is met by dividing system among the Inmates. For providing hygienic food, steam cooking facilities are provided by the Management. A mineral water plant that provides drinking water in the hostel for 24 hrs is available. There is a reading room with various books, magazines and newspapers and television with cable connections for their entertainment. Students are guided to cultivate the art of getting early from bed in the morning (05:30 AM) and suggested to do some physical exercises including games for improving their physical health also. Hostel day is being celebrated every year in a splendid manner.
HEALTH CENTRE:
“Health is wealth”. Hence it is utmost necessary to protect the health of the students. So we are providing separate medical rooms in boys' hostel, girls' hostel and in college campus . An experinced doctor is attending the clinic room in college on all working days during the lunch hour. He also attend the boys’ Hostel on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Like wise, the same Doctor is attending the girls’ Hostel on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Thus we are taking care upon the health of the students.
INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA CENTRE:
Five broadband connections had been installed in our campus for surfing the Internet. Steps are being taken to extend this facilities in all computer lab in the campus. One connection is used exclusively by the staff members. The second one is used by the Department of Biotechnology whereas the third one is used by the Department of Computer Science. Fourth one is used in the college office and the fifth one is used in the library. Language lab with 22 high end configuration systems had been installed separately for the students to improve their communication skills.
